Whatcom Youth PRIDE Parade
We are thrilled to demonstrate our support and participation with our Queer Community by marching in the Whatcom Youth PRIDE Parade!
It is fun for all ages and the whole family is welcome to march in the parade or help us "adopt a block."
The parade itself is ~20 minutes long starting at the corner of Cornwall & Halleck, however, different bodies go at different speeds. (Picture of route below.) An optional Festival and performances are hosted after the parade.
DATE: Saturday, June 1st, 2024
Arrival Time: Arrive at 9:30am for parking and check-in
Parade Starts: 10:30am
(Optional) Festival Starts: 11:30am with performances beginning at 1:00pm, and lasts until 2pm
This is not a Drop-Off Event. Girl Scouts must be supervised by their own grown-up OR a specified Girl Scout Adult.
It DOES get busy and it is easy for the larger group to get separated
We suggest a 1 Adult:2 Daisy / Young Brownie ratio (one for each grown-up hand!)
Prepare Older Girl Scouts with an assigned Buddy or Truddy (a Trio)
Be clear about plans for "where to meet if we get separated" and phone numbers of adults in your group
Girl Scouts (Youth and Adults) who are sensitive to stimulation may choose to opt-out OR be part of the crowd / adopt-a-block.

Meet at the Dollar Tree Parking Lot:
1821 Cornwall Ave, Bellingham, WA 98225, United States
Parking: Parking Downtown can be challenging -- give yourself plenty of time to arrive!

Girl Scout Uniform*
Health Form for Girl Scout and Adult, linked here - keep them on you!
Water Bottle - Labeled with your Girl Scout's Name!
Comfortable Walking Shoes
Dress for the Weather - Dress in Layers!
Sun Protection: Sunscreen, Lip Balm, Hat, Sunglasses
Rain Protection: A clear poncho is a great idea!

*It's important to remember your Girl Scout Uniform for this event, sending the message to our community that Girl Scouts is a safe place for LGBTQ+.

Whatcom Youth Pride is organizing an "adopt a block" strategy to make sure that the sidelines are packed with supportive community members and for the entirety of the parade (not just in one bunch!).
We are waiting to hear about our area we are assigned to, and need to bring 20+ people with us. "Think of it like throwing a parade party with your friends for a good cause!"
Please RSVP for everyone who is interested in providing support this way!
Arrival Time: 9:30/9:45ish, depending on if you are dropping off Girl Scouts to march in the parade.

Parade Suggestions
Dress in Layers.
Bring a Day Pack or something with wheels to pull - Wagon, Suitcase, Backpack, Cooler.
Bring extra water and easy to travel with snacks.
Meet in a Group.
Add plenty of time to park and walk to your meeting point.
Clear Ponchos if there is any chance of rain.
Suggest: Daisies in the front to set the pace with their little-er legs.
Drop off at staging Area - Park cars at the end of the route.
Prepare Girl Scouts with their emergency contact phone numbers.
